What are the responsibilities and job description for the Law Clerk (Criminal Court Judges) position at Shelby County Government?
Position Summary
Works under direct supervision of an assigned supervisor to be responsible for researching legal data for briefs or arguments based on statutory law or decisions and drafts legal documents.Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; AND
2. Enrolled in an accredited law school as at least a second-year law student.
3. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Searches for and studies legal records and documents to obtain data applicable to cases under consideration.
2. Prepares rough drafts of summaries of findings of facts and rulings.
3. Performs legal searches for Judges.
4. Performs other related duties as required or directed.
KSAs
1. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of the work.
2. General knowledge of legal terms and court proceedings.
3.Ability to research and prepare rough drafts.
4.Ability to establish and maintain a system of files.
5.Ability to work with Judges and attorneys.
