Position Summary

Minimum Qualifications
1. Five (5) years of experience in a lead, supervisory or administrative nursing capacity, which two (2) years in leadership in a non-acute health care setting; AND
2. Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited registered nursing program; AND
3. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Tennessee or compact state.
4. Correctional Health, Quality Improvement or Utilization Review experience preferred.
5. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Monitors the performance of the contracted Inmate Health Care provider at Shelby County Detention and Correctional facilities to ensure coordination of services and information between institutions as inmates move between the detention and the correctional facilities.
2. Develops plans for evaluation and recommendation regarding contract amendments as appropriate as well as Quality Improvement (QI) activities of the vendor/contractor providing inmate health care services.
3. Assists the Inmate Health Care Administrator in reviewing, monitoring, and evaluating the detention and correctional facilities’ healthcare contracts.
4. Ensures Inmate Health Care Compliance Monitors are adequately trained to perform required functions in accordance with all applicable standards.
5. Researches and analyzes clinical performance indices relative to conformity with all applicable standards.
6. Direct all investigative and clinical issues/concerns to detention and corrections administrations.
7. Assures linkage of inmates to appropriate health care services provided by the contracted health care provider between detention, corrections, community mental health providers, Regional One Health (ROH), and other community health providers for clinical and QI issues.
8. Informs detention and corrections administration regarding clinical services monitoring functions and findings relevant to issues related to inmate clinical matters.
9. Develops and presents reports for the Medical Services Review Team, detention, and corrections administrations as needed or requested.
10. Performs related duties as assigned or directed.
KSAs
1. Knowledge of working in a large clinical inmate setting.
2. Knowledge of utilizing an Electronic Medical Record system.
3. Knowledge of best practices and research in detention and corrections health care.
4. Ability to coordinate, schedule and monitor clinical performance.
5. Ability to analyze health care contract provisions and develop audit tools to monitor compliance.
6. Ability to prepare composite reports and make sound recommendations.
7. Ability to work with an incarcerated population in a detention and corrections environment.
8. Ability to present information verbally and in writing with charts, graphs and visual aids.
9. Proficient knowledge of using Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or similar software.
Special Requirements
