What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Health Coordinator - Grant (Part-time) (Health Services) position at Shelby County Government?
Position Summary
This position is funded by a grant for a duration of time as defined by the grantor. This position is part-time (up to 30 hours per week) and requires a flexible schedule, as the majority of the work is in the evenings and weekends.
Reports to the Deputy Division Director to advise on strategies for Healthy Start Grant services. Develops partnerships to ensure participants access needed services and implements a community plan focused on at least one Social Determinant of Health (SDOH) to ensure program effectiveness.
Pay Grade: 51
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
1. Three (3) years of experience in healthcare policy or compliance, public health, or social care; AND
2. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, public health, social work, or closely related field.
3. An equivalent combination of relative education and/or experience.
4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
1.Submits ideas and strategies for providing direct and enabling services. 2.Compiles necessary information to develop cross-sector partnerships to ensure Healthy Start participants have access to needed services. 3.Drafts and completes a community plan focusing on at least one Social Determinant of Health (SDOH). 4.Collaborates with management and community stakeholders to create a Healthy Start Community Advisory Board per grant requirements. 5.Monitors and evaluates the Healthy Start Grant community plan. 6.Develops and maintains files prepares reports, and monitors HRSA regulations on Community Advisory Board. 7.Participates in community outreach and events. 8.Performs other related duties as required or directed.

1.Thorough understanding of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. 2.Thorough understanding of community partnership development. 3.Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 4.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. 5.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County employees, service providers, external organizations, and the public. 6.Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and County software applications.

1. Must possess a valid Tennessee driver’s license or secure one as of date of employment.
2. Must have daily access to an operable automobile and meet county standards or insurance upon date of employment.
3. Work may require working in the community in the evenings and/or weekends.
4. May be required to travel to other SCHD locations.
5. Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as the majority of the work is in the evenings and on weekends.
