Position Summary
Works under general supervision of the department manager to supervise and coordinate the activities of the Jail Processing department.Pay Grade: 51
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
1. Five (5) years of experience in a lead capacity in a jail environment; and
2. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in psychology; sociology; criminal justice or a closely related field; OR
3. An equivalent combination of related education and experience.
4. PROOF OF EDUCATION; TRAINING; AND/ OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Supervise; plan; and evaluate the work activities for all functions of the Jail Processing department.
2. Train and coach staff on methods and procedures used when processing inmates.
3. Ensure that necessary information is communicated with all agencies regarding inmate release; court appearances; and other matters relating to inmate processing.
4. Evaluate staff and make recommendations regarding performance and discipline.
5. Resolve discrepancies regarding inmate classification; housing; release; or other department matters.
6. Perform other related duties as assigned.

1. Knowledge of processing; classifying; and releasing inmates.
2. Ability to evaluate and analyze data; prepare reports and assist in implementing organizational policies.
3. Skilled in organizing work; setting goals and priorities.
4. Ability to supervise and direct the activities of a diverse staff; set standards and lead them in working together as a cohesive team.
Special Requirements
1.Must be able to work in a jail environment.2.Must be able to work shift weekends and holidays.
3.Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License or secure one as of employment date.
