What are the responsibilities and job description for the Property Tax Appraiser I - PART TIME position at Shelby County?
Under the administrative direction of the Chief Appraiser or other senior appraiser staff, the part time Appraiser I performs field appraisals while working an average of 32 hours per week. Work involves appraising and fixing values on all residential, commercial and rural property; conducting field reviews; collecting data; performing various office tasks and updating assessments and records on split properties, line changes and current use properties. Assist in County wide appraisal program and interviews property owners to explain property appraisal methods and techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists with installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting ArcGIS software for end users.
- Daily analysis and maintenance of GIS data including, but not limited to, road centerlines, pavement information, signs, guardrail, culverts, bridges, traffic signals, sidewalks, and right-of-way information.
- Prepares reports, maps, and data related to Highway Department assets.
- Develops and maintains proficiency with Shelby County GIS procedures and workflows.
- Assists in the field collection of highway asset data.
- Assists in supporting Cityworks Asset Management System for the Highway Department.
- Assists in other non-GIS technical projects and support roles as needed.
- Assists IT Services and other County Departments as needed.
- Works non-standard hours as required.
- Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by supervision.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- BS or BA in Business, Accounting, Finanace, or Real Estate.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- As a part time position, candidates must be willing to work an average of 32 hours per week, but weekly hours may fluxuate and be more or less than 32 as determined by the supervisor.
- Must be willing to work outdoors and travel overnight when necessary.
- Math skills including geometry, and the ability to communicate with the public.
Work is performed equally indoors and outdoors, subject to weather extremes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is medium in nature and involves walking and standing for long periods of time; sitting, bending, lifting and carrying.WRITTEN AND PERFORMANCE EXAMINATIONS
No written or performance examination will be required for this position.
