What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pediatric Medical Assistant position at Shelby Pediatrics?
Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers in delivering patient care
- Perform medical procedures within the scope of practice
- Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers
- Obtain and record patient vital signs
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Assist with patient education and counseling
- Perform medical administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, and coordinating referrals
- Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Skills:
- Proficient in medical terminology and documentation
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical procedures
- Ability to administer medications accurately and safely
- Strong patient service skills, including effective communication and empathy
- Experience with medical administrative support tasks such as scheduling, recordkeeping, and insurance verification
- Familiarity with X-ray procedures and equipment (if applicable)
- Understanding of coding systems for medical billing and reimbursement (if applicable)
- Ability to provide quality patient care with attention to detail and accuracy
