Experience Required: 1 year of related work experience as a property appraiser
Minimum Education Requirements: High School Diploma/GED and additional technical training in the area of residential appraising and building construction.
Certification/Licensing: Michigan Certified Assessing Officer (MCAO) Certification by the Michigan State Tax Commission, valid driver's license

Job Summary: Perform appraisals of residential properties. Locate properties to gather data concerning their value and to sketch buildings. Check on completion of new construction so that it may be added to the assessment rolls and makes computations regarding replacement values and area of property. Perform related work as required.
Essential Job Functions: An employee in this position may be called upon to perform any or all of the following essential duties:
- Using property descriptions and maps, drive to residential buildings and building additions and obtain sufficient data to sketch the building to determine the square foot reproduction cost for final appraisal.
- Survey and appraise new construction to add it to the tax rolls upon completion. Gather data to make final estimate of value.
- Compute the reproduction cost of buildings from sketches and other pertinent data.
- Assist in the preparation of the assessment and tax rolls.
- Answer questions from the public concerning the assessment process.
- Periodically assist in the clerical processes of the Assessor's Office.
- May assist more experienced appraisers in appraising commercial, industrial, and personal property.
- Perform related work as required.

Pay range is $60,770 - $69,906
