Fleet Assistant
The Charter Township of Shelby is now accepting applications for the position of Fleet Assistant. Interested candidates must be available to work 25-29 hours a week Monday - Friday 8 am - 3 pm. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have current driver's license, clean driving record, and be able to pass a Security Clearance and Background check. The hourly rate of pay for this position is $17. Some of the job duties associated with this classification would include, but would not be limited to:
- Transport vehicles to and from various locations for repair, equipment installation, and maintenance.
- Confirm that each vehicle has all of its appropriate daily emergency equipment necessary for performing the Department's role in the community.
- Maintain the physical condition and appearance of the police vehicles. This includes checking all vehicle fluids and inspecting tires on a monthly basis.
- Assist in the removal of Police vehicle equipment and graphics.
- Maintain inventory of the products needed in the vehicles and reorder supplies as necessary to maintain a sufficient stock.
- Maintain the appearance and condition of the Sally Port (cleanliness and stock).
- Perform minor vehicle repairs.
- Remove snow from vehicles, move vehicles for snow removal and make arrangements to have parking lot plowed and salted.
- Perform related work as required under the supervision of the Fleet Coordinator.
