POSITION : Elementary Resource Teacher - Maternity Leave
EFFECTIVE DATE : January - March 2025
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that provide developmentally age appropriate experiences and promote student engagement.
- Experience working with students who have behavioral and emotional issues.
- Will monitor student behavior and provide direct behavioral interventions to students.
- Will assist in the development and implementation of the elementary alternative school program.
- Will assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of individual educational plans and participate fully in IEP Team meetings.
- Will plan and implement appropriate instructional and behavioral strategies in accordance with the approved curriculum and students' IEPs
- Will select, develop, and utilize appropriate materials for special needs students, including adaptive and assistive equipment and technologies, for instruction, communication, and management
- Attends assigned professional development and implements new practices successfully
- Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
- Regularly uses data to guide educational decisions and instruction
- Will evaluate and maintain accurate records as required by the principal and Article 7, including student progress reports, academic and social growth, reports, incident reports, attendance, etc.
- Implement strategies to keep students and parents informed of academic and behavioral performance
- Identifies students' needs, makes appropriate referrals, and implements appropriate accommodations / interventions as outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs), 504 Plans, or Response to Instruction Plans (RtI)
- Will develop, plan, and implement Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans as indicated by student performance, including interventions for crisis situations
- Will plan, collaborate, and / or co-teach with general education teachers and other pertinent personnel regarding student instruction, needs, and services as indicated on student IEPs
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve and promote an effective learning atmosphere
- Responds to parents' inquiries in a timely manner
- Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
- Coordinates the work of instructional assistants.
- Has knowledge of corporation and school policies and special education regulations
- Handles the clerical functions and reports in a timely manner
- Effectively coordinates special education schedules with general education teacher and building schedules
- Provide consultative duties as determined on student IEPs
- Will actively participate on multidisciplinary teams in the assessment and observation of special education student referrals
- Maintains satisfactory attendance
- Complies with Corporation Bylaws, Policies and Employee Handbook
- Models Corporation Mission Statement and Fundamental Objectives
- LICENSE : Valid Indiana Teaching License (Special Education License Preferred)
