POSITION: Long Term Substitute Teacher-5th grade
EFFECTIVE DATE: February 6, 2025
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Teaches district approved curriculum maps based on the Indiana State Standards
- Organizes and presents daily lesson plans that reflect instructional best practices as outlined in school improvement plans or professional development initiatives
- Utilizes the district approved scope and sequence when lesson planning and analyzing data
- Attends assigned professional development and implements new practices successfully
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that provide developmentally age appropriate experiences and promote student engagement
- Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
- Meets the "effective", "highly effective" rating as it relates to the SCS Teacher Evaluation
- Assists in the development and evaluation of curriculum maps
- Participates in the textbook adoption process
- Regularly uses data to guide educational decisions and instruction
- Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports
- Administers all assessments required by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) and complies with Testing Security Policy
- Implements strategies to keep students and parents informed of academic and behavioral performance
- Identifies students' needs, makes appropriate referrals, and implements appropriate accommodations/interventions as outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEP), Individual Learning Plans (ILP), 504 Plans, or Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS) Plans
- Creates an organized environment conducive to learning through functional and attractive displays, interest/learning centers or exhibits of student work
- Utilizes technology as an instructional, communication, and management tool
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve and promote an effective learning atmosphere
- Communicates proficiently in English oral and written communication
- Communicates and meets with parents as needs
- Responds to parents' inquiries in a timely manner
- Contributes to the school as a whole
- Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
- Coordinates the work of instructional assistants, parents, and volunteers in the classroom, school events, and field trips
- Maintains knowledge of corporation and school policies
- Handles clerical functions/reports related to job responsibilities in a timely manner
- Maintains satisfactory attendance
- Complies with Corporation Bylaws, Policies and Employee Handbook
- Models Corporation Mission Statement and Fundamental Objectives
