Shelbyville High School Math Teacher
EFFECTIVE DATE:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned
- Teaches district approved standard based curriculum maps
- Instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
- Organizes and presents daily lesson plans that reflect instructional best practices as outlined in school improvement plans or professional development initiatives
- Guides the learning process toward academic achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals-establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicates objectives clearly to students
- Attends assigned professional development and implements new practices successfully
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest level of the students
- Evaluates students’ academic progress and provides individual and/or small group instruction as needed
- Implements strategies to keep students and parents informed of academic and behavioral performance
- Uses data to guide instruction and educational decisions
- Identifies students’ needs, makes appropriate referrals, and implements appropriate accommodations/interventions as outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEP), Individual Learning Plans (ILP), 504 Plans, or Response to Intervention (RtI) Plans
- Utilizes technology as an instructional, communication, and management tool
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve and promote an effective learning atmosphere
- Communicates and meets with parents as needed
- Responds to parents’ inquiries in a timely manner
- Assist in the development and evaluation of curriculum maps
- Participates in the textbook adoption process
- Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
- Handles clerical functions/reports related to job responsibilities in a timely manner
- Maintains satisfactory attendance
- Complies with Corporation Bylaws, Policies and Employee Handbook
- Models Corporation Mission Statement and Fundamental Objectives
- Works well with colleagues and within the department
