About us
Sheldrake Point Winery is named for the prominent point of land on which it sits, located on the western shore of Cayuga Lake. Operated as an orchard and dairy farm from 1850 to the mid-1980s, the 155-acre lakeshore farm lay fallow until 1997 when a small group of wine enthusiasts organized the purchase of the land and founded the winery. Today, Sheldrake Point Winery continues the agricultural tradition with 60 acres of vineyard planted to 10 vitis vinifera varieties, which are used to make approximately 8,500 cases of estate grown, produced, and bottled table and ice wines.
Our Cayuga Lake Tasting Room in Ovid, NY is currently accepting applications for part-time seasonal tasting room service staff.
Sheldrake Point Winery is looking for fun and outgoing people to join our tasting room team. We are seeking enthusiastic, hardworking individuals to assist with providing guests with an unparalleled wine tasting experience. The perfect candidates will be passionate about wine and food, detail oriented, and a team player who is above all committed to providing excellent guest experiences.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Hospitality experience beneficial but not necessary; interest in and experience with wine preferred
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours
- Must be personable and able to talk in front of groups
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds and utilize a dolly cart
- Previous experience in POS system preferred
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Reliable, self-motivated candidates with a positive attitude, clear communication skills, love for wine, and a willingness to learn and grow will excel in this hourly position.
