What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Service Representative position at Shell Lumber and Hardware?
Summary: Sales Support position responsible for managing customer relationships, order tracking and other support functions to allow Contract Sales staff to focus on selling.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Must have a general officer clerk, clerical or entry level experience.
2. Responsible for greeting walk-in customers and directing them to the appropriate department or person.*
3. Assists phone bank by answering incoming calls correctly and by transferring calls to the correct department or person.*
4. Contacts vendors per established schedule to check status of customer orders.*
5. Contacts customers regarding the status of orders and to arrange pick-up or delivery.*
6. Notates content of all conversations with vendors and customers in the Customer Activity Notes Viewer (CANV).*
7. Scans required documents correctly into the system.*
8. Conducts audits of all tagged Special Order material at Shell and updates status/tags as required.*
9. Assists walk-in customers who are picking up orders by properly completing the invoice process and determining where the material is located.*
10. Completes processing of sales orders by ensuring that all required information is correct and that proper payment protocols have been followed.*
11. Assists Dispatch by answering incoming calls and maintaining the Dispatch Board.*
12. Maintains the dispatch file by date and ensures that all deliveries and pick-ups are logged each day and that the daily paperwork is left for the appropriate manager to determine routes for each driver.*
13. Routinely tasked with receiving special order merchandise delivered to Shell by following all established procedures and guidelines.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.*

Language Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of internal store operating system including Point of Sale, Inventory Management, Purchasing and other programs such as Word, Outlook and Excel.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
