What’s The Role

This US Corporate Relations role will lead the integration of cross-business, regulatory and policy strategies and provide legislative counsel for commercial issues that impact both value and reputation. Subject matter areas will vary based on external and commercial developments but will include issue management and integration on matters with complex dynamics. The role will report to the Head of US Corporate Relations and will work closely with Supply Chain and Legal.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Regulatory and Policy Advocacy: Develop and advocate for Shell’s regulatory and policy priorities while maintaining and operating safely within the highest legal and ethical standards of engagement and advocacy.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with federal entities, policymakers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Strategic Planning: Craft strategic plans to influence policy/regulatory outcomes and mitigate commercial and reputation risks aligned with the company's goals.
  • Leadership: Provide guidance, support and leadership behaviors to ensure effective advocacy and policy initiatives.
  • Commercial Integration: Leverage commercial experience and work with Supply Chain and in lines of businesses to integrate and prioritize dependent work streams.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Communication: Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and other issues management and advocacy communications to internal and external stakeholders.

What You Bring

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • More than 10 years of experience in both private and public sectors with a span of energy, commercial, and regulatory accountabilities.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required. Business, Pre-Law, or Political Science undergraduate degree preferred.
  • Institutional Knowledge: Deep understanding of US federal entities and established relationships within these institutions.
  • Commercial Acumen: Experience in Commercial roles, e.g. Lands, to effectively integrate contracting and procurement work streams which may interact with policy developments.
  • Managerial Skills: Proven ability to manage and lead a direct/indirect team. Simultaneously, this role requires a self-starter to identify risks and opportunities independent of direction and integrate work streams efficiently and effectively.
  • Behavioral Competencies: Strong analytical skills, superior communication abilities, strategic thinking, and an inclusive, proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in advocating for policy changes and navigating complex regulatory environments.
  • Relationship Builder: Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strategic Integrator: Skilled in integrating commercial and regulatory priorities to drive company success.
  • Leadership: Capable of leading a team and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Adaptable: Flexible and able to navigate the dynamic landscape of energy policy and regulation.

What We Offer

The base salary range for this position is $210,000 - $314,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
