Kennel Manager

Job Summary
The Kennel Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the kennel facility, ensuring the highest standards of animal care and welfare. This position requires a passionate individual with strong leadership skills and extensive experience in animal handling. The Kennel Manager will be responsible for managing staff, maintaining a clean and safe environment for all animals, and providing exceptional care to pets while their owners are away. The kennel manager will also be in charge of grooming including bathing and occasionally shaving dogs and cats.

Duties

• Supervise and train kennel staff in proper animal care techniques and grooming.
• Bathing and occasionally shaving dogs and cats.
• Oversee the cleanliness of the kennel facility, including regular cleaning schedules and sanitation protocols.
• Manage scheduling for kennel staff.
• Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pets' needs and any concerns that may arise during their stay.
• Collaborate with veterinarians as needed to ensure the health and well-being of all animals in care.
• Occasionally running errands to the store to get supplies.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of animal care practices, including dog handling, grooming, and general pet care.
• Experience in a kennel or veterinary setting is highly desirable; familiarity with veterinary assistant duties is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills to interact positively with pet owners and staff members.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
• Proficient in animal restraint techniques to ensure safe handling of various breeds and temperaments.
• A genuine passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing high-quality care for pets.
