Assignment Overview:
The Housing Stability VISTA will design and implement a new program for Shelter House that will provide furniture and essential household items to individuals and families that have recently moved into permanent supportive housing after experiencing homelessness. In a new collaborative effort with Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity, this position will design, implement, and provide oversight for the furniture distribution program. In addition, this position will develop ongoing, research-based processes to collect data and report on outcomes from programs within Shelter House; ultimately leading to future development of additional services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
Position Description:
The Housing Stability VISTA works directly with the Rapid Re-Housing Case Management Team to support clients after they have moved out of their experience of homelessness. In partnership with Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity, this position is in charge of the design, oversight, and coordination of Shelter House's Furniture Program. This includes soliciting local hotels, furniture and consignment stores, and stewarding community members for furniture and other household items, as well as scheduling the pick-up and delivery of all items. In addition, this position will develop a system to collect data and report outcomes of Shelter House programming.
Assignment Objectives:
- Enhance the collaboration with Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity to develop a comprehensive plan to support individuals and families who recently experienced homelessness, obtain furniture and household items.
- Develop a compliance system across departments to ensure grant requirements are met.
- Coordinate VISTA Days of Service, designated VISTA events, and other service projects among the Shelter House VISTA team, volunteers, staff, and clients.

Requirements
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Windows-based computer environment and Microsoft Office Suite
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team, prioritize multiple tasks, and be flexible in job duties and schedule.
- Be 18 years of age or older (no upper age limit)
- Hold one of the following citizenship or legal residency statuses: US Citizen, US National, Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e., Green Card Status), and persons legally residing within a state. Examples of persons legally residing within a state may include those holding the following classifications: refugee, asylee, temporary protected status throughout VISTA service, and holding Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status.
