Brokerage Specialist
$23.26 - $28.24 / hour minimum starting salary
Job Level: Individual Contributor
Shelter maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in geographic location, education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Please remember that this range is the starting base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position.
What You Will Be Doing:
Responsible for assisting Shelter Insurance agents with acquisition and retention of Personal and Commercial lines risks, both in the Standard and Excess & Surplus Lines markets through Daniel Boone Agency, LLC, by acting as an underwriter and/or liaison with DBA, LLC contracted carriers. Examine (Underwrite) incoming applications, from agents in multiple states, to determine acceptability with current markets based on underwriting criteria for each carrier. Communicate and consult with agents, policyholders, brokers, carriers and other concerned parties regarding coverage, rating and risk evaluation of new and existing business. Perform varied duties pertaining to policyholder file update and maintenance via the DBA Agency Management System. May also serve on Departmental and Company committees.
Due to the duties and responsibilities of this position, a Criminal Background Check may be ordered on final candidates.

- Adheres to corporate privacy guidelines of Shelter Insurance and guidelines of outside Standard insurance carriers and brokers
- Excellent personal computer skills
- Excellent business aptitude and customer service skills when dealing with both internal and external customers
- Ability to maintain schedules and work well with others
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a resident Property and Casualty insurance license, as well as non-resident licenses for all non-resident states DBA operates in
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation
