M-F 9-5 but must be available to work every other weekend.
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for our memory care residents. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with seniors and a strong understanding of aging issues. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for residents in assisted living and nursing home settings through recreational therapy and event planning.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, organization, and implementation of recreational activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Facilitate memory care activities that promote cognitive engagement and social interaction among residents.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to ensure a supportive environment.
- Provide support during events, ensuring that all materials are prepared and that activities run smoothly.
- Collaborate with the care team to identify individual resident needs and preferences related to activity participation.
- Document resident participation and feedback to help improve future programming.
- Support aging issues counseling by providing companionship and emotional support during activities.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in senior care, assisted living, or nursing home environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of memory care techniques and recreational therapy practices is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with seniors and their families.
- Organizational skills with experience in event planning or coordinating group activities.
- A compassionate approach to care, demonstrating empathy towards residents' needs and preferences.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated to initiate activities independently.
