Primary Purpose:
Support the installation, testing, and maintenance of the district’s network hardware, computers, software, and related technology. Troubleshoot and resolve network issues while monitoring critical systems across the district. Perform on-site technical tasks including setup, maintenance, and support of computer equipment, software applications, and network infrastructure at various campuses or assigned locations.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Understanding of LAN and WAN design, installation, and maintenance
- Proficient with network hardware and software, including servers, printers, and related equipment
- Skilled in working with multiple operating systems and network protocols
- Capable of installing, repairing, and maintaining computers and peripherals
- Ability to install and maintain network cables and associated hardware
- Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving network-related issues
- Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in network maintenance and support
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Network Support
- Install, configure, and test network hardware and software; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Monitor system performance and utilization; recommend improvements when necessary.
- Assist with setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of network infrastructure.
- Identify and resolve hardware and connectivity issues.
- Maintain detailed documentation of network design and configurations; collaborate with users to determine needs and resolve problems.
Network Security
- Support districtwide network security by managing user accounts, internet access, and email systems.
- Perform regular backups of all networks and workstations; restore data when required.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a disaster recovery plan for the district’s network infrastructure.
Technical Support
- Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade computers, peripherals, network cabling, and related equipment across district sites.
- Provide technical support and training to staff on hardware, software, and instructional technology.
- Install and update operating systems and application software.
- Assist in the preparation and distribution of digital classroom materials.
- Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues involving printers, terminals, and other hardware.
Inventory
- Keep accurate records of all hardware, software, and related equipment at assigned locations; remove outdated or non-functional equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels of replacement parts and request replenishments as needed.
- Maintain a current and accurate inventory of static IP addresses assigned within the district.
Other
- Manage the district’s Incident IQ system for tracking technology and maintenance requests.
- Coordinate with software and hardware vendors to ensure product functionality and support.
- Prepare and maintain necessary reports, records, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and policies.
- Respond to after-hours emergencies when required.
- Follow all district safety procedures and emergency response protocols.

Tools/Equipment Used: Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations; standard office equipment including personal computers and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; regular kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motion; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching; may climb ladders
Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying (up to 44 pounds); occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over)
Environment: Occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent on-call and after-hours work; occasional districtwide travel; may be required to be on-call 24 hours a day; may be exposed to electrical hazards.
