Job Title: Culinary Team Member

Summary
A Shepherd’s Run Culinary Team Member is a self-motivated and hospitality-oriented individual. In this position the Culinary Team Member will work with the General Manager and other Property Managers to execute the Food Beverage vision for the property. They will help ensure a safe, clean, and organized food facility for Shepherd’s Run Guests. The ideal candidate is professional, proactive, driven, focused, and able to collaborate as part of a dynamic team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepares food and beverage items for breakfast and wine bar menu. as directed by General Manager, or other Managers.
- Able to read, understand and follow recipes to ensure a consistent product.
- Has Food Production knowledge of techniques and equipment for preparing food, including storage/handling techniques.
- Has valid ServSafe Food Handler Card or ServSafe Manager Certification.
- Has production and processing knowledge of raw materials, production processes, safe storage, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.
- Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
- Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
- Assists with unloading, inspection, and storage of raw ingredients and supplies.
- Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items and rotating stock.
- Keep dish area clear of dirty dishes and helps restock clean dishes.
- Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.
- Assists in menu planning and ordering.
- Help in the production of food for special events as well as set-up, washing dishes and food prep prior to Event.
- Set-up food items in a logical and visually attractive manner as explained by the General Manager or other Managers.
- Empties cleans trash bins.
- Follows all OSHA Safety and all Health and state regulations and requirements for the industry and maintains a safe and secure work environment for the establishment and patrons.
- Maintains a clean and professional appearance.
- Reports on any issues that require maintenance.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Inn Events and Support:
- Assists in the preparation of special events and may actively participate in special events for the Inn and Vineyard as directed by the General Manager or other Managers.

Education and/or Experience
- Must have the ability to lift and/or carry at least 50-lbs.
- High school diploma, GED certificate or vocational coursework in kitchen basics
- Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and supplies
- Physical stamina for being on your feet throughout shifts; Must be able to reach, bend, stoop and wipe.
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Able to follow instructions.
- Must be able to stay focused, alert, upbeat, outgoing and positive in a fast-paced environment.
