Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, a global Am Law 50 firm, is seeking a Senior Practice Economics Manager.
We prefer candidates who can work from our Los Angeles offices but will consider other candidates who can work from one of our other California offices. The other offices we are considering are: Century City, Orange County, San Diego (Del Mar), San Diego (Downtown), San Francisco, and Silicon Valley. There is only one opening.
The Senior Practice Economics Manager will work closely with members of the Practice Management team, in addition to attorneys and other Firm colleagues. They will be responsible for directing and managing the pricing and project management functions, including business management, profitability, and operational efficiency for assigned Practice Groups.

Required Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree
Computer/Software Knowledge
Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote and Outlook
Preferred: Experience with legal accounting systems (preferably Aderant). SQL or other database programming knowledge. Power BI or Tableau experience

Essential Functions Of Job
- Compile quarterly practice group financial decks
- Conduct recurring and ad hoc financial analysis, modeling and reporting
- Identify trends and propose solutions where needed related to practice management
- Develop and present educational materials related to practice management
Required Qualifications:
- 5-8 years’ law firm or other professional services experience in an accounting, pricing, client or practice management role
- Outstanding interpersonal skills; the ability to project a polished, professional image, and communicate comfortably and confidently with all levels of personnel
- Excellent organization skills and astute attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment
- Robust oral and written communication capabilities
- Displays strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills; the ability to develop and successfully execute comprehensive project and operational plans from broadly stated objectives;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with emphasis in areas of finance, cost, and pricing;
- Experience with legal accounting systems (preferably Aderant)
- Knowledge of law firm billing processes and practices

Work Environment
- The current Firm policy is hybrid–working in the office a minimum of 3 days per week and working from home the rest of the week (subject to change).
- Overtime may be required as the job duties demand.

Salary : $180,000 - $240,000
