What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Tech (Baltimore/Washington Campus) position at Sheppard Pratt Hospitals?
Pharmacy Technicians act as an assistant to Pharmacists providing assistance in the routine functioning of the Pharmacy, including triaging phone calls from various staff, and performing other operational/clinical duties as assigned. We are looking for an occasional employee available to fill-in for weekday dayshifts and weekend dayshifts as part of a regular weekend rotation (Sat 8am-2pm & Sun 8am-noon). Opportunity for cross-training at our Towson facility possible for evening shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Act as an assistant to Pharmacists; assist in the routine functioning of the Pharmacy, including triaging phone calls from various staff
- Deliver medications to the halls and pick up meds for crediting; process credits
- Stock Medication areas inside and outside of the Pharmacy, including MedSelect Machines
- Assist in maintaining records, files, and other clerical tasks, including faxing and emailing work-related materials
- Perform prepacking bulk items into Unit Dose packaging
- Perform other operational/clinical duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma and at least 3 months of related hospital pharmacy experience. Prior community pharmacy experience may be considered.
- Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy (current Pharmacy students must apply for and provide evidence of an exemption from the registration requirements). PTCB certification is a plus.
- Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with psychiatric patients, and Automated Dispensing Machines (Pyxis, Omnicell, MedSelect, etc) a plus.
