Summary: The Breakfast Server/ Cashier is responsible for greeting and servicing restaurant guests according to brand standards; providing the highest quality service to guests and team members while taking orders, preparing and serving a variety of breakfast items, including specialty coffee drinks, handling cash and credit transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned by a supervisor as needed.

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Exhibit a self-starting personality and a positive, professional demeanor to effectively communicate with guests, team members, and the community.
  • Adhere to Legacy Ventures Service standards as outlined in the Blueprint, brand standards and other policies / rules of conduct, to include personal appearance / grooming, proper uniform (including name tag), attendance as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel, and safe / efficient operations.
  • Comply with certification requirements as applicable to position such as Food Handlers and Safety certifications, as applicable to the position.
  • Understand and follow brand standards and other quality and presentation guidelines to ensure excellent guest service and food and beverage presentation guidelines.
  • Prepare and serve a variety of Grab-and-Go breakfast items, including pastries, breakfast sandwiches and beverages such as coffee, tea, and specialty drinks according to the established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff and other hotel personnel to ensure smooth and timely service.
  • Promptly serve guests with all food and beverage requirements in a warm, friendly, courteous and professional manner.
  • Accurately process guest payments through cash, credit/debit cards, and room charges, ensuring correct entry in the POS system. Maintain a secure and organized cash drawer, verify room charges, and address any payment issues, such as declined cards or discrepancies, immediately. Follow established cash handling procedures.
  • Follow check ringing procedures precisely.
  • Be familiar with the operation of the P.O.S. system.
  • Ensure that the work area and front of house areas are kept clean, tidy, organized and stocked.
  • Perform opening and closing side work per standards to ensure prompt and efficient service for guests.
  • Attend meetings as required by management.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by management.

  • Must be 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Must have a self-starting personality with an even disposition to effectively communicate with guests and staff.
  • Ability to obtain Food Handlers Certification (must comply with State and Brand requirements.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The associate is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms.

The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
