Site Description: The Sheridan AllPrep Children's Center (SHACC) is a school-based childcare center. The center has a dual purpose of serving families in the Sheridan, Oregon area and providing a space for CTE students who are doing work-based learning in the area of early childhood development. SHACC provides childcare for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. SHAPA’s Early Childhood Education CTE students will also have the opportunity to engage at SHACC to practice hands-on career skills, earn real-world certifications, and learn alongside childcare professionals.

JOB SUMMARY
Ensures, supports, and promotes each child’s safety, health, and development in cooperation with their parents and other early childhood professionals in a manner consistent with daycare regulations. Assists lead teachers in planning and developing a developmentally and culturally appropriate curriculum which meets the needs of the children and families.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold at least a high school diploma from an accredited school (Required)
- CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification (Required)
- Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
- Food Handlers Card (Required)
- Infant Safe Sleep (Required)
- Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (Required)
- Introduction to Childcare Health and Safety (Required)
- Any other certification or licensure requirements for the state of Oregon
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise the classroom when the teacher is out of the room.
- Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing learning experiences.
- Ensure all physical and emotional needs of children in care are met (feeding/mealtime, dressing, diapering/toileting, enrichment activities, etc.)
- Help children develop positive relationships with peers and adults; promote safety of the children by helping them develop self-confidence and independence.
- Observe children and assist in recording student development and progress.
- Assist with the training and observation of CTE students, reporting progress to the Director.
- Assist with meal service as needed.
- Assist with the training and observation of CTE students, reporting progress to the Director.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Perform related duties consistent with job description and assignment.
- Operate a computer or tablet to do basic data entry assignments.
- Attend staff training as necessary or required.
- Attend appropriate staff meetings as assigned.
ABILITY TO:
- Ability to be flexible and step into any classroom where needed.
- Strong ability to build relationships with families and staff and create a positive and fun environment.
- Ability to manage and execute the daily schedule of the classroom.
- Learn growth and development principles of children.
- Monitor children and advise families of developmental progress.
- Patiently and effectively work with CTE students, including students with behavioral problems and learning disabilities.
- Learn basic first aid and safety requirements.
- Work in a team situation.
- Work independently, in the absence of a co-teacher when numbers are low, to carry out lesson plans.
- Type at a speed necessary for successful job performance.
- Physically perform job tasks.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING :
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with a class size of 4 or more (Preferred)
- Experience caring for children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years old (Preferred)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information; seeing to perform assigned duties; sitting for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment; kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store files, reports and supplies; lifting light objects.
- Ability to lift and/or move between 10 to 50lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions with routine exposure to the weather including seasonal heat and cold. Subject to frequent loud noises in the environment.

REQUIREMENTS:
Must be 18 or older.
Wage: $15.00/hr starting wage.
