What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advanced Math Teacher position at Sheridan High School?
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Teaching Advanced Mathematics classes to high school students. Development in assigned students of skill and understanding of subject area.
Provide a classroom experience which contributes to individual and group excellence. Promote the development of character, leadership, cooperation, and respect for others that will make the students a better citizen.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Oregon Teaching License with Advanced Mathematics Endorsement.
- Experience teaching advanced math in high school.
- Demonstrated abilities (written and/or oral) to plan classroom instruction around District philosophy, goals and learner outcomes.
- Educational training in secondary education.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.
- Teaches district approved curriculum.
- Teaches the skills, knowledge, and processes of the subject area.
- Keeps the safety and welfare of students above all other considerations.
- Monitors the behavior of all students assigned.
- Assumes responsibility for accompanying all assigned students on field trips or other off campus visits.
- Submits a list of all students absent or tardy to the attendance secretary at the end of each period.
- Reports and records any injury immediately.
- Maintains the condition of the classroom.
- Submits an inventory of furniture, teaching materials, and books at the end of each year.
- Fills out properly and submits to the secretary all forms pertaining to grades, absences, competencies, class loads, etc.
- Knows and understands all policies, regulations, and procedures of the school and school district.
- Follows proper procedures when purchasing school items.
- Remains current in professional growth and inservice training.
- Assesses the accomplishment of students on a regular basis and maintains such records as required by law.
- Assumes other duties as may be assigned by the principal or designee.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises classroom and students.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of course work satisfying the requirement for issuance of a valid Oregon Teaching License with appropriate endorsement in the designated assignment.
Demonstrated ability to teach students to be successful learners through student teacher, internship or temporary/regular teaching experience.
