What are the responsibilities and job description for the Press Feeder position at Sheridan?
The Press Feeder is responsible for aiding the Press Operator in the operation of the press to ensure acceptable quality at maximum productivity. The feeder will ensure all product specifications are met, ensure paper is loaded, perform preventive maintenance on the press and accurately record production data on job tickets, load slips etc.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure paper is loaded, and all plates, stock, ink, and proofs for the next job are at the press before previous job is completed
- Empty waste ink, chemical containers, and soiled rag containers daily
- Monitor pH and conductivity of fountain solution on presses
- Ensure skids are properly marked for next operation prior to leaving the pressroom
- Ensure work produced exceeds quality guidelines
- Accurately record production data on job tickets, load slips etc.
- Work with Press Operator to ensure preventive maintenance is performed each week
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Able to read and understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, job tickets, and procedure manuals.
- Able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and/or diagram form.
- Understand basic math.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Two years in trade on similar equipment.
- Graphic arts and/or technical school background.
- Ability to read a ruler.
- Mechanical aptitude.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing – up to 12 hours per shift.
- Must be able to lift or move up to 40 pounds.
- Hearing protection and safety toe shoes required.
Compensation: $17.00 - $19.00 depending on experience/qualifications
