Job Overview – Senior Federal Tax Analyst – 33321

We are seeking a Senior Federal Tax Analyst to support the growth of the Tax Operations group. This role reports directly to the Federal Tax Manager, Tax Operations.

In this position, you will be primarily responsible for preparing and reviewing U.S. federal tax returns, conducting federal provision and forecast calculations, and providing tax audit support. Additionally, you will focus on federal income tax accounting and reporting, contributing to the accuracy and compliance of the company’s tax processes.

As part of the team driving process improvements, you will play a critical role in streamlining and automating tax processes and procedures. This includes contributing to the company’s long-range technology strategy, currently in development, to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of tax operations.

Responsibilities


  • Prepare and review federal income tax returns, workpapers, and reconciliations.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the consolidated federal tax return, including compiling required statements and managing the e-filing process.
  • Calculate and monitor tax attributes for domestic entities, including domestic earnings and profits (E&P) and tax basis.
  • Assist in forecasting the annual effective tax rate (ETR) and cash taxes, with a focus on U.S. income tax matters.
  • Support the quarterly income tax provision process to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations related to federal income tax accounting.
  • Maintain and support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal control documentation requirements.
  • Provide documentation and support for tax audits, including responding to Information Document Requests (IDRs).
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, including automation, redesigning workpapers, and enhancing workflows.
  • Participate in tax department projects, including those related to tax credits, incentives, and technology-driven initiatives.


Requirements


  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Finance.
    • 3-5 years of experience in a finance-related area; 2-5 years of federal income tax work experience preferred.
    • CPA designation is desirable but not required.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
    • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
    • Familiarity with tax and financial systems, including OneSource, Alteryx, PeopleSoft, and/or SAP.
    • Basic knowledge of ASC 740 and related pronouncements is preferred.
  • Additional Experience:
    • Audit or public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Key Competencies:
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
    • Confident decision-making abilities and the capacity to work independently.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong analytical capabilities.
    • Ability to collaborate with peers and interact effectively with management.
