JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director, Technical Learning will lead, plan, and advise on all activities related to the growth of technology skills and capabilities within the Enterprise Technology Group (ETG). The individual will report into the Director, Technology Excellence within the Enterprise Change Enablement (ECE) team. This team oversees the operation of the Enterprise Technology Group’s ETG Academy. The employee will be responsible for partnerships that contribute to Enterprise Technology Group’s overall change readiness and technical learning strategy, including short-term (12 month) needs and long term (3-5 year) strategies. The incumbent will support advancing Sherwin-Williams Digital Fluency and focus on integrating proven practices to assess the technical learning needs of ETG. They will deliver relevant, engaging, and accessible learning solutions that increase the technical capabilities and speed of skill acquisition of defined audiences.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy and Planning8

  • Provide vision, leadership, coordination, and strategic direction for delivering on ETG’s Technical learning programs.
  • Contribute to the development of learning plans which build technical skills that support business goals, industry best practices, and emerging trends in technical learning.
  • Keep current on the technical growth areas and emerging skills needed across ETG to establish programs which will support developing the technical talent needs of the future.
  • Conduct evaluations and assessments to measure the effectiveness of technical learning interventions, gather feedback from learners, and iterate on learning solutions for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct industry benchmarking and knowledge-sharing to advance ETG’s technical practices and methods.
  • Create clear and concise communications strategy working with the ECE team to drive engagement and advocacy of all ETG-driven technical skilling efforts.

Acquisition & Development

  • Collaborate with IT and HR teams to foster a culture of continuous technology-focused learning, knowledge-sharing, and performance improvement across ETG.
  • Design and manage learning communities of practice to facilitate peer technical learning, collaboration, and skill development among employees.
  • Partner with stakeholders overseeing ETG’s early talent program to effectively align technical development needs with resources available for each program (Intern, Co-op, RDPs).
  • Build and maintain relationships with ETG’s Learning Council and Community to gain insights and ensure the technical talent strategy is appropriately positioned and supported by stakeholders.
  • Establish and leverage technical SMEs aligned to key roles and technologies across ETG to support strategic direction and skill development requirements.
  • Design and deploy learning programs and solutions to address technical skill gaps.
  • Build relationships across all ETG’s teams, HR and with business partners to support broader learning & development plans, programs and technologies.
  • Establish KPI’s, goals and objectives that enable measuring and improving technical skilling programs.

Operational Management

  • Establish methods for analyzing IT skills gaps and executing action planning to close gaps.
  • Assess technical learning needs and develop learning plans to advance skills. Leverage vendor provided assessment tools and programs where appropriate.
  • Continuously seek to improve technical learning processes, tools and experiences.
  • Ensure learning and development needs are documented and aligned to current and future technical skill requirements.
  • Prepare and present proposals to support acquiring tools, methods, resources, consultants/vendors to support engaging, assessing, developing technical skills and capabilities.

This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H1-B visa.

This position has a hybrid work schedule with three days in the office and the option for working remotely two days.

QUALIFICATIONS

Formal Education & Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
  • 12 years of IT experience.
  • 10 years management or leadership experience.
  • 6 years' experience with project management and process improvement.
  • 3-5 years experience leading change management efforts including change strategies, communications, and training.
  • Experience mentoring, training, and developing team members.
  • Experience with the performance and learning management processes.
  • Experience in project planning, budget ownership, and staffing of project teams.
  • Experience overseeing the direction, development, and implementation of complex solutions in global, virtual environments, and across cultures.
  • Working knowledge of modern IT roles and skills
