The Sherwin-Williams Financeinternship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in Sherwin Williams North America Payroll Operations.
The internship features hands on payroll operations experience, where you’ll learn the steps involved in end-to-end payroll processing leading to accurate and compliant pay. You will gain meaningful exposure to federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations including wage withholding orders and other mandatory deductions. You will also learn payroll software and systems, such as Dayforce, UKG, Service Now, Oracle, and Microsoft Office products. You will learn how to review information for accuracy and identify errors all while understanding the importance of maintaining a high degree of confidentiality with sensitive employee information and sensitive payroll data. Finally, you'll learn to balance multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, honing your time management skills.
This internship is scheduled to begin March 2025.
Year Round: This role requires availability to work up to 7.5 hours per day on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays for a minimum of 15 hours per week and a maximum of 28 hours per week during the school year, with the ability to work at least one (1) year. Additional hours may be available during the summer for a maximum of 37.5 hours per week.
Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, the Company has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to provide similar protections for its clients and potential investments.

Responsibilities
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Sort and distribute large volume of incoming and outgoing department mail from multiple sources including local, state, and federal agencies.
- Organize, assign, scan, and submit cases with Dayforce for garnishment processing and tax tracers.
- Provide quality end user support related to the re-issuance of pay statements and annual tax statements.
- Complete employee verifications not processed by the work number.
- Participate in research, data gathering and analysis with highly sensitive employee and company data.
- Support special projects and continuous improvement efforts as needed.
- Understanding of country specific (a) eligible employee benefits, (b) labor laws, (c) tax withholdings and how those inputs impact eligible employee pay.
- Critically evaluating data and automations used in the payroll process to prevent errors and payroll fraud.
- Aggregating accurate payroll data to the system, such as salaries, time & attendance, approvals, taxes, pay schedules, etc. in a timely manner
- Understanding of and being able to leverage software used to automate payroll processes/operations to improve efficiency and accuracy. Identifying opportunities to integrate/optimize AI, machine learning, and RPA into financial processes.
- Exposure to business and payroll systems
- Development of professional network by collaborating across finance and HR department(s)
- Enhancing financial and business acumen through skill development
- Experience in process improvement initiatives

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future.
- Must be enrolled in a college or university, pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business at the time of the internship
- Willingness to work all scheduled hours, including overtime as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Be a rising or current Junior or Senior in college or university at the start of the internship program
- Have prior school or work experience in finance, accounting, and business
- Have at least one (1) year of experience using Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, and/or Outlook)
- Have previous experience working in a team-oriented setting including work experience, extracurricular activities, military service, etc.
- Previous experience in the Sherwin-Williams Corporate Finance Internship Program
