The Position!
Our office currently has three attorneys, two legal assistants, an intake and consultation team, and an office receptionist. We are looking for an additional legal assistant to assist attorneys and clients with legal tasks. Office roles include:
Legal Assistant: Helping our clients through complicated divorces by managing office calendars, document and letter drafting, pleading drafting, client interaction, time tracking, file organization, discovery review and other legal tasks. Feeling the reward in knowing you helped save someone's future through hard work and dedication. Being the right hand to one of our attorneys and working closely with that attorney in all aspects of the case from start to finish.
Position: Full time. Compensation: $50-80k/yr depending on experience, paid holidays, paid vacation, 401k, medical benefits. Opportunity to work from home when required.
Responsibilities:
- Polite and courteous on the telephone and in person with existing and potential clients.
- Managing our office calendar and e-mail system.
- Ability to take direction and strictly follow office procedures on how to manage files, track time, calendar appointments, draft letters and pleadings and manage discovery.
- Provide prompt, accurate, and friendly customer service.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- People-oriented and self-motivated.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of Windows, Dropbox, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and case management software (ideally CLIO). We do not have the resources to train on computer and software skillsets. We can train our systems, but we need someone with a strong computer foundation that can get up to speed extremely quickly. - Ability to work in a team environment and take direction.
- Ability to effectively relate to clients by being polite and exhibiting appropriate etiquette even when dealing with frustrated people.
- Experience with family law required.
- Experience as legal assistant or paralegal required.
- Oregon family law rules, local rules, discovery rules, etc. required.
