Title: BUSINESS OFFICE SPECIALIST - FULL TIME WITH BENEFITS
Salary Range $45,047 - $54,840
Job Summary: The Business Office Specialist works closely with the Director of Business Services / CFO to support the financial and payroll operations of Shiawassee County Regional Education Service District (SRESD) and the districts for which SRESD provides financial and payroll services. The person in this position is responsible for working with the Director of Business Services / CFO and engaging with Business Office staff to make sure all business office processes are completed within appropriate timeframes and in an effective and efficient manner. Primary areas of knowledge and responsibility include payroll, accounts payable, and cash receipt processes and serve as a back up to other specialists in the Business Office.

Required Education and Experience
- Associate degree in degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related subject area required.
- A minimum of two years of related experience preferred.
- Knowledge of school fund accounting systems and procedures preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll processing required.
- MSBO certification is also preferred.
General Job Responsibilities
- Payroll
o Maintain attendance records.
o Review and process bi-weekly and/or bi-monthly payroll.
o Balance/process insurance bills.
o Submit required payroll reports to reporting units.
o Process year-end financial accruals.
- Accounts Payable
o Assist with purchase order process.
o Process weekly or bi-weekly payments.
o Process procurement card transactions.
- Accounts Receivable
o Process and record deposits.
o Assist with the Property Tax collection.
o Invoice various agencies for services rendered (monthly, quarterly, annually)
- Financial Support
o Assist with Reconciliation of bank accounts and investments.
o Assist in the year-end financial book closing process by processing transactions necessary to appropriately reflect the financial status of the organization.
o Assist with annual financial audit data collection.
o Assist with financial reports as requested by appropriate agencies and individuals.
o Assist with Medicaid reporting.
- General accounting, internal controls
o Assist with the accounting system and internal controls of the district.
o Assist with general ledger maintenance to ensure chart of accounts is compliant with state standards and adequately reflects financial information needed management.
- Business services to SRESD staff and partners.
o Communicate and work effectively with the SRESD professional and support staff, community members, municipal agencies and other organizations as required.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but employee is generally expected to work 5 days per week, 8 hours per day and be available during the core work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (half hour lunch permitted). Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Regular on-site attendance is expected.
Terms of Employment: This is a Full Time, 12 month per year, 8 hour per day position. Salary based on candidate experience and benefits as established by the Board of Education. Start date TBD.
