What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health & Safety Intern position at Shin-Etsu Silicones of America?
Shin-Etsu Silicones of America, Inc. (SESA) is looking to hire a Health & Safety Intern to help with a variety of related tasks and projects. This part time intern will work around 20-29 hours per week with flexible scheduling.
Responsibilities
- Review policies and procedures for formatting and grammatical errors. Suggest updates as it relates to SESA and industry regulations and practices.
- Research and remain up-to-date on current Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards. Suggest updates to processes and procedures.
- Walk the production floor to familiarize self on how policies are executed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education & Experience:
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or closely related field; or be currently enrolled and working towards a degree is preferred.
Experience or exposure in a manufacturing environment (preferably in chemicals) is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Basic knowledge and understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Computer literate working with Microsoft Office products.
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to take direction and to carry out instructions from the Supervisor in an orderly and efficient manner.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Capable of proactive approach to identify and eliminate potential problem areas.
- Ability to work independently and in groups and be self-motivated in both settings.
- Ability to manage time in an efficient and effective manner.
