General Manager, 3PL Warehouse
The General Manager is a cornerstone of Ship Essential’s operational success, driving the performance, profitability, and strategic growth of our New York warehouse. This role requires a seasoned leader with a strong background in 3PL, logistics, supply chain, and warehouse management. The GM is responsible for ensuring successful fulfillment for our Brand Partners with a focus on operational excellence, maximizing profitability, and holding managers accountable for the performance of their teams. This is a high-impact role, demanding urgency, precision, and a commitment to living Ship Essential’s Principles and Values every day.
This is an in-person role based in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
Responsibilities
Operational Accountability
- Take full ownership of the warehouse’s performance, ensuring that service level agreements (SLAs) are met or exceeded every day.
- Oversee all aspects of daily operations, from inbound and outbound to inventory control, ensuring seamless execution and alignment with company goals.
- Maintain ultimate accountability for the success or failure of warehouse teams, with a bias toward action and problem-solving.
- Ensure all SOPs are documented, trained, and followed, holding managers accountable for compliance.
Profitability & Cost Management
- Own full responsibility for the warehouse P&L, ensuring monthly and quarterly profitability.
- Develop and manage the warehouse budget, monitoring financial performance and making adjustments to achieve targets.
- Ensure every labor hour, material, and service provided is accounted for and charged appropriately to brands.
- Control labor costs by ensuring efficient scheduling and aligning workforce size to demand without overextending resources.
Manager Development & Leadership
- Focus on the performance and development of warehouse managers, ensuring they have the resources, training, and support needed to succeed.
- Actively coach, lead, and manage warehouse managers, stepping in alongside them to tackle challenges and lead by example.
- Ensure warehouse managers meet their targets and deadlines, providing clear feedback and guidance to improve team performance.
- Take ultimate responsibility for manager success—if their teams fail, the GM takes ownership.
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Audit, improve, and execute on workflows across inbound, outbound, inventory control, and other key departments to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and execute strategies to improve warehouse metrics, including order accuracy, on-time delivery, and inventory accuracy.
- Champion continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies, implementing solutions, and streamlining processes.
- Actively monitor workflows to identify bottlenecks and ensure warehouse teams operate with urgency and efficiency.

Profitability of Brand Accounts
- Monitor the profitability of each brand we serve, ensuring all costs are captured and charged appropriately.
- Take a data-driven approach to evaluating account performance, identifying areas to improve efficiency and profitability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Head of Operations and other senior leaders to align warehouse strategy with company objectives.
- Manage up effectively, providing clear reporting and insights into the warehouse’s performance and challenges.
- Collaborate with other departments, including sales, account management, and finance, to ensure a unified approach to serving brands.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years in 3PL, logistics, supply chain, or warehouse management, with significant experience leading large teams.
- Proven success in managing warehouse operations and developing high-performing teams.
- Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems and EDI.

Salary : $150,000 - $180,000
