Summary:
Shoals Technologies, a global renewable energy organization is hiring an Applications Engineer. This person will help drive Shoal’s New Markets solutions into the Community, Commercial and Industrial (CC&I) Solar, Battery Energy Storage (BESS), and Solar OEM Markets. This position will report to the Director of Integration Engineering. The applicant must be capable of working within different industry segments and managing multiple priorities. This position will take direction from both Integration Engineering and Product Engineering groups and partner closely with the Sales teams and Product Line Management to identify the best Shoals solutions for different customer projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop in-depth knowledge of Shoals current and future solutions and their usage in Solar and Energy Storage applications. Shoals' offerings include pre-terminated wiring, standard wiring harnesses, custom wiring solutions, electrical distribution enclosures, and other eBOS products.
- Discuss customer applications, understand the value proposition and costing, present Shoals technical solutions, review customer drawings, and support Sales in quoting by determining a potential bill of material.
- Interface with Product Line Management to keep up to date on Shoals products and support new product development by collecting Voice of Customer.
- Talk directly with customers, product managers, project managers and engineers to assess needs and to determine customer requirements.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining products or services to existing and prospective customers.
- Assist preparing quotes to solve customer needs by using Shoals solutions, offerings of partner companies and identifying solutions for missing elements of the proposal.
- Recommend improved solutions to customers versus traditional ways of deploying solar modules, showing how changes will lower installed costs
- Propose systems, and procedural improvements to streamline the process and timeline for handling, completing, and proposing customer bid responses.
- Aid with other New Markets product lines as needed including BESS Solutions and Solar OEM in evaluating and proposing different solutions options.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years in construction estimation, electrical engineering, single line or electrical design
- Proven track record of success in exceeding customer expectations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- AC and DC power systems engineering design experience preferred
- Ability to travel at least 20% of the time
