Shoals sells their solar products principally to engineering, procurement, and construction firms that build solar energy projects. The custom nature of their system solutions and the engineered-to-order development cycle for solar projects typically gives Shoals a 12 month lead time to quote, engineer, produce, and ship each order.
Summary:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for assisting in the review and analysis of financial reports. They will support the senior accounting team with day-to-day tasks and contribute to the overall accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparation of company financial statements by analyzing general ledger information and preparing or reviewing balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closes within defined company schedules, including assigned journal entries, balance-sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and flux analyses.
- Assist in posting and coding transactions in appropriate general ledger accounts.
- Manage employees and processes related to accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Review accounting transactions to ensure accuracy of information and calculations.
- Maintain the fixed asset register, including recording fixed asset additions and disposals.
- Review monthly depreciation calculations and journal entries.
- Reconcile fixed asset accounts and investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
- Review capital expenditure requests for accuracy and compliance with accounting policies.
- Summarize expenses to be added to employees’ Forms W-2.
- Conduct ad-hoc reporting and special projects as requested.
- Support the SOX compliance by reviewing control documentation prepared by accounting staff.
- Prepare flux analyses for income statement and balance sheet accounts.
- Provide support for internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures and make recommendations for process improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred)
- Minimum of seven years of experience in accounting or a related field
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with accounting software (preferred)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
