The Company has manufacturing facilities in Tennessee & Alabama, with sales personnel in Spain and Australia servicing Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Asia-Pacific.
Shoals sells their solar products principally to engineering, procurement, and construction firms that build solar energy projects. The custom nature of their system solutions and the engineered-to-order development cycle for solar projects typically gives Shoals a 12 month lead time to quote, engineer, produce, and ship each order, so there is no need to stock large amounts of finished goods.
SUMMARY:
The Quality Process Engineer will plan, coordinate, and directs quality assurance programs on the manufacturing floor designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established customer requirements. This position will work closely with the manufacturing sites to ensure timely completion of a variety of quality improvement activities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
- Perform statistical analysis to analyze trends, and work with the site functional groups to investigate and conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions for processes and products.
- Develop and lead quality improvement projects, based on prioritizing metrics such as cost of quality, inspection data, and or customer quality escapes.
- Prepare reports by collecting, interpreting, analyzing and summarizing data and present solution proposal.
- Performs quality audits and sets quality standards for incoming materials, in-process finished and products materials.
- Develops and leads cross functional teams in continuous improvements efforts and transfer across all Sites when applicable.
- Reports on complex quality analyses and defective products and recommends necessary quality procedures and process changes.
- Ensures compliance throughout all quality testing and validation phases.
- Provides technical leadership and assists in training on problem solving techniques and quality tools.
- Responsible for the mitigation of customer complaints as part of a cross functional team.
- Lead cross functional teams and implement continuous improvement initiatives across critical business functions.
- Reviews control of nonconformance material disposition and inspection of reworked product
- Support the product development process by providing key elements to quality.
- Facilitate and lead and train problem solving activity through the 8D Process, DMAIC Principles, and 5-Why Problem Solving.
- Assist manufacturing quality managers with RPN reduction - creating and enhancing our PFMEAs and Control Plans and process flows.
- Establish, analyze, and drive quality process performances across operations.
- Follow and instill good safety practices according to Shoals objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred or related field a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience required in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience in Quality Role
- Certified Quality Engineer a Plus
- Six Sigma Green Belt a Plus
- Strong communications skills both written and verbal.
- Computer Skills – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Tableau
- Root cause analysis techniques
- Able to read prints. GD&T experience a must
- Must be able to work in a team or individual environment.
- Self-motivated individual
- Must have the ability to pay attention to detail.
