What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marina Attendant position at Shore Harbor Marina?
Enjoy your summer on the sunny shore of the Kalamazoo River in Saugatuck, MI as our next Marina Attendant. Our Marina Attendants play a crucial role in the enjoyment of Shore Harbor Marina by our slip holders and their guests. Our marina is not like anything else in Saugatuck. We pride ourselves on creating a strong sense of community and a fun atmosphere for each of our slip holders. The Marina Attendant is the face of the operation and the host of the party, responsible for the enjoyment of everyone's time here and the safety/security of the property.
This is an hourly, non-exempt position. Hours vary between 1st and 2nd shifts, and weekend availability is required. This position reports to the Director of Operations, and Owners.
Job Duties:
- Welcome and acknowledge all slip holders and their guests anytime you approach them, and thank them with genuine appreciation.
- Anticipate and address slip holders' needs.
- Perform property checks through boat barn, parking areas, and docks ensuring property is safe, and boats/equipment is secure.
- Pickup debris and dirt around the property to keep areas clean and free of hazards. Weed and tidy all planted areas around boat barn and along seawall.
- Clean restrooms, outdoor seating, and laundry areas per company standards.
- Routinely check common areas to make sure utilities are in working order and service items are well stocked. Communicate damaged property and out of stock items to management promptly.
- Perform pumpouts as scheduled.
- Familiarize yourself with local waterways, businesses, and attractions and be able to professionally share recommendations with slip holders and their guests.
- Monitor vehicle traffic in parking areas and boat barn ensuring only permitted vehicles are parked inside the boat barn. Communicate vehicles not in compliance to management immediately.
- Familiarize yourself with company and marina policies and procedures.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times in accordance with company dress code and code of conduct.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and ensure all tools are stored correctly when not in use.
- Arrive to all scheduled shifts on time and ready to fully execute job duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
- Able to push, pull, and lift heavy objects, up to 50 pounds
- Able to stand on feet for long periods, up to 8 hours at a time.
- Able to work outside in varying weather conditions including rain and wind.
- Able to comfortably and confidently work on docks and board boats secured to the dock.
- Must be able to swim as work is conducted in close proximity to open waterways.
- Experience on and around boats is preferred.
- CPR and first aid certification is preferred.
- Able to maintain a kind, professional, and hospitable attitude and tone to guests, even in stressful situations. Knows when to seek assistance from Managers in stressful situations.
Compensation:
Pay type: Hourly
Range: $19 - $22
This position is eligible for an end of season bonus of $500. To receive this bonus the candidate must maintain this position at least until Labor Day 2025 and be employed for no less than 90 consecutive days. The candidate must not have any no-call-no-shows, or any disciplinary actions in the last 90 days.
