What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outpatient Services Representative position at Shore Medical Center?
Position Summary
Provides general clerical and secretarial duties for assigned outpatient department and performs direct and indirect patient care activities following RN instructions, physician orders, policies, procedures and regulations. Work responsibilities include all aspects related to registration and scheduling including but not limited to: pre-certification, insurance authorizations, and obtaining ABNs. Maintains an effective workflow to support the daily operation between the technical/nursing staff, patients and medical staff. The Outpatient Services Representative is also responsible for all aspects of assigned department’s charges and documentation review including internal billing audits. This position may also be assigned the responsibility of supporting the physician in an effort to facilitate patient flow through the department and supporting the practice in its efforts to provide quality service to patients. The Outpatient Services Representative accepts oversight, daily assignments and training from the Outpatient Services Coordinator.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma/GED/Equivalent Work Experience
• 2 years experience in Medical Oncology office setting preferred
• Oncology EMR experience preferred
• BLS certification or obtained within 3 months of hire
• Ability to lift, push, pull
• Ability to walk/stand for extended period of times
• Intermediate Computer/Keyboard/Word Processing Skills
• Strong Interpersonal/Communication/Organizational Skills
• Detail Oriented/Must be able to work independently
• Knowledge of sterile technique preferred
