Position Summary:
We are seeking the ideal candidate for our newly created Human Resources Generalist role. The HR Generalist will support the employees and leadership of SHGC. Reporting to the CFO, this individual will be a key member of the Administrative Team supporting all departments including our full-time staff as well as our expansive seasonal workforce. The HR Generalist will administer weekly payroll, oversee employee leaves, manage new hire processes and orientations, administer compensation and benefits, maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, collaborates with leaders on recruiting, hiring and ensuring adequate training of employees.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Serve as the main point of contact for employee questions and concerns for a workforce between 40 to 140 seasonally.
Process weekly payroll and reporting, accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with applicable wage and hour laws and handling of payroll deductions.
Ability to produce reports on an ad-hoc basis from the payroll system.
Collaborate with hiring managers on recruiting, tracking, interviewing and hiring of qualified candidates for open roles.
Applicant tracking, on-boarding and conduct new hire orientations to ensure candidates are ready for work and know what is expected.
Ensure compliance with new hire paperwork including I-9 documentation and tracking.
Maintain HRIS and compliant employee files with a high level of detail and confidentiality.
Administer and manage employee benefits programs including enrollments, benefit changes, open enrollment and educating employees on the company sponsored benefit plans.
Support benefit compliance including ACA reporting, COBRA administration and required notices.
Review invoices and confirm proper billing from our compensation and benefits third party vendors.
Manage and track general training sessions required (harassment, etc.)
Stays abreast of best practices, trends, regulatory changes and employment laws as may impact our organization.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, and applicable wage and hour requirements.
Other Duties and Projects assigned by the CFO or GM.
Act as a trusted advisor to managers and leaders, guiding them through complex employee relations issues with discretion and sound judgement.
Facilitate conflict resolution conversations between employees as they arise to promote positivity and effective communication in the workplace.
Foster a fair and respectful work environment by ensuring consistent application of policies and working to resolve workplace concerns in a timely and balanced manner.
Experience and Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources.
· Certifications for Human Resource Professionals (PHR, SPHR, SHRM) preferred.
· Experience in the hospitality industry is a plus but not required.
Core Competencies and Skills:
· Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance.
· Ability to communicate in a positive manner verbally and in written format with all levels of employees, leaders and or Board of Directors and Committees.
· Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
· Demonstrated ability to mediate conflicts, listen actively, and offer balanced solutions that align with organizational values and goals.
· Ability to provide guidance to leadership on effective change management as we seek to improve our support of SHGC employees overall.
· Highly organized, attentive to details, works efficiently while prioritizing appropriately to meet timelines and deadlines.
· Acts with integrity, professionalism and with confidentiality at all times.
· Is a trusted advisor to the CFO, GM and Departmental Heads in support of the employee base.
· Ability to work with confidential information discreetly.
· Knowledge Payroll processing and applicable laws preferred.
· Experience with Paycom is a plus.
· Spanish or French language a plus.
Physical Factors:
· Ability to sit and work at a computer workstation for extended periods of time.
· Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. on occasion (files, Office supplies, etc.)
Working Requirements (Travel Requirements, Overtime, Shifts, On-Call, etc.):
· On site, 40 hours/ week. Some extended hours maybe necessary on occasion to support staff or complete projects.
· Additional seasonal hours to support early/late hourly employees and weekend staff.
Compensation and Benefits:
· Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
· Annual, full-time salaried position.
