The Chemistry department offers a rigorous sequence of courses for students interested in professional/technical degrees, and for science and non-science transfer majors. This currently includes a two-quarter introductory general/organic/biochemistry (GOB) sequence, three-quarter general inorganic chemistry sequence, three-quarter organic chemistry sequence, and a two-quarter biochemistry sequence. The instrumentation in our teaching labs includes UV-vis spectrophotometers, FTIRs, GCs, GC-MS, and a 60MHz NMR. The successful faculty member should have the ability and experience to teach the entire sequence of chemistry courses offered, from introductory level GOB through the biochemistry series, as well as demonstrated experience teaching transfer-level organic chemistry, and a strong interest in providing leadership in the development of lecture and lab curriculum, especially as it applies to the development of greener organic chemistry labs.

In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will advise students, assist with assessment of current instructional methods, develop programs and curricula, participate in Shoreline governance, department, division and campus-related professional activities, and industry-focused advisory meetings. NOTE: An on-campus presence is required for this position.

Faculty at Shoreline will have an array of students from differing programs in their classroom, including professional technical and university transfers.
