Under the general supervision of the Program Manager A of the Assessment and Testing Center, the Program Coordinator assists with the leadership of the Assessment & Testing Center and services by contributing to program planning, assessment, service delivery, and providing supervision of hourly/student employees. This position is responsible for independently assessing and completing assessment and testing assignments, providing oversight and administration ensuring compliance with Federal, State, College, and vendor rules and regulations, and apprising the Program Manager of operating and administrative details. The Program Coordinator will often be the first point of contact in the delivery of services to students, faculty, staff, community members/public, and must uphold high standards of excellence in customer service and support of Shoreline Community College’s (SCC) programs and services.
The Program Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Program Manager to ensure a welcoming and supportive environment for students and guest test takers while ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state laws (e.g., Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)), College policies and procedures, and test regulations and integrity.

The College is currently providing services in a mixed modality of operations (both online and in-person services are offered). This position will perform work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment, and physically attend meetings both on and off campus, with the ability to communicate in-person or through appropriate means. Ability to read printed materials and a computer screen. Please note, there may be limited opportunities for online work depending on program or area needs. If authorized for online work, employees will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs.
Terms Of Employment/Salary:
This position is allocated to pay range 40, under the Washington State Office of Financial Management higher education salary schedule. Salary placement for new employees is determined by the College. This position works 40 hours per week, with schedule dependent upon department needs. Primary responsibilities include the following:
- Assists Program Manager in ensuring daily delivery of services and maintaining schedules for testing.
- Provide training and supervision for hourly/student and work study employees. Recruit, train, coach and ensure performance expectations are met.
- Works with faculty, other institutions, and agencies to obtain exam materials and return them in a timely manner.
- Generate and maintain detailed records of all pertinent testing information.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all testing materials.
- Communicates with students, staff, faculty, and the public via in-person, email, and phone services.
- Represent the Assessment & Testing Center within the College and in the community and support the implementation and monitor the Assessment & Testing Center’s (ATC) goals and objectives.
- Lead the Assessment & Testing Center in the absence of the Program Manager.
- Maintain documentation related to ATC services.
- Actively proctor exams.
- Collaborate with Student Accessibility Services (SAS) to manage implementation in the testing center for proctoring of accommodated academic quizzes, exams, and placement tests for students with disabilities.
- Administer ALEKS, Pearson VUE/GED, outside proctoring, make up exams, National League for Nursing (NLN) Nursing Entrance Exam (NEX), and Accuplacer’s Ability to Benefit.
- Help prepare and provide various reports to designated employees and students following FERPA, ADA regulations, and GED rules, including confidentiality.
- Maintain test security for all tests including Pearson VUE/GED, ALEKS, NLN NEX, Accuplacer's Ability to Benefit, and other placement, admissions, and/or accommodated tests.
- Help prepare, allocate, and administer budget, including determination of staffing and operational requirements. Monitor expenditures.
- Contribute to planning and assessment, including annual area reviews.
- Keep current with technology and/or products in the academic field of testing and assessment and effectively serve a diverse client community.
- Other duties as assigned of a similar level/nature.
- High school graduation OR equivalent.
- Two (2) years of clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience.
- Ability to communicate in English both in-person and through other appropriate means.
Knowledge Of:
- Theories, principals, operational practices applicable to assessment/testing and leadership and supervision
- Budgeting principles and practices, policy development and implementation
- Applicable laws, rules, ordinances and regulations, e.g., FERPA and ADA
- Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Zoom and other applications
- General ctcLink (PeopleSoft) skills including basic troubleshooting
