Calling all animal lovers! We are looking for someone to join our team of compassionate, hardworking, and talented individuals.
About the Job:
We are looking for someone to work 20-30 hours per week. This person will care for the boarding animals, assist in doggy daycare, and, on occasion, act as our receptionist. You can expect 80% of your time to be spent in daycare and the kennel, and 20% at the front desk.
Main Duties:
- Cleaning kennels, daycare areas, and outdoor play spaces, which involves using a hose, scrubbing, squeegeeing, and emptying hair and debris from the drains.
- Walking dogs and playing with animals (e.g., tossing a ball, using a flirt pole with the cats).
- Feeding and providing medication to animals, paying close attention to the smallest details on the instruction sheet.
- Ensuring all animals are clean, comfortable, and happy. Alerting the manager or assistant manager if any animals show signs of distress or potential health concerns.
- Supervising, controlling, and engaging a group of 8-10 large dogs or 8-12 small dogs for up to 3 hours at a time, ensuring the safety of the group.
- Being outside with the dogs in all types of weather (rain, cold, snow, heat).
- Giving baths and nail trims.
- Hand washing dishes, doing laundry, sweeping, mopping, cleaning windows, and dusting.
- Doing individual and group activities with the animals, such as agility training, puzzles, reading books to them, group sits, and taking pictures of the animals.
Reception Duties:
- Answering phone calls and emails. Greeting customers and answering their questions.
- Checking animals in and out, making reservations, and creating/editing account information.
- Taking payments and ensuring bills are correct.
- Using our reservation system, Gingr, to check animals in and out, make reservations, create/edit account information, add notes to files, and upload vaccines and town licenses.
- Ensuring we have up-to-date vaccines, town licenses, and proper paperwork for all dogs and cats.
- Keeping open communication with other front desk staff to ensure consistency when interacting with customers.
- Ability to interact with clients and provide updates on their pets' well-being.
Typical Shifts:
- Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM or 7:30 AM–12:00 PM / 1:30 PM–6:00 PM
- Saturday: 7:30 AM–12:00 PM & 1:30 PM–4:30 PM
- Sunday: 7:30 AM–11:00 AM / 3:00 PM–4:00 PM
- Hours may vary depending on the volume of kennel activity.
- We are open 365 days a year, meaning we all work holidays.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- High school diploma. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- Previous experience in animal care (e.g., working in a kennel, vet, or daycare) or volunteering with animals is helpful.
- Previous customer service experience is helpful.
- Familiarity with animal handling techniques and behavior.
- Knowledge of animal body language.
- Strong attention to detail is an absolute MUST. This is critical for tasks such as feeding, providing medication, monitoring animal health, and ensuring no cages are left open.
- Ability to listen and follow directions.
- Positive, calm attitude – animals can pick up on bad moods and will react accordingly.
- Strong communication skills – ability to relay important information about an animal’s health or behavior.
- Physical fitness to walk and stand for 4 hours at a time, lift animals of all sizes, carry a 30lb food bag, and be agile.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare.
- Own transportation is required, as we are not located near a bus line.
