Prime opportunity for college internship to learn about integrated pest management practices!
Crop consultant seeking summer interns (April thru September) to learn the trade. Duties will include scouting corn, soybeans, and sorghum for weeds, diseases, insects, environmental injury, as well as soil moisture monitoring and irrigation scheduling.
Interested parties will be trained how to scout for the various pests and learn the treatment thresholds.
This is a great way to learn about production practices across multiple yield environments - from high yielding irrigated corn to limited yielding dryland crops, we check everything in between. Scouts work with multiple crops across multiple growers allowing you to see different production techniques as well as different soil types and environmental conditions.
Applicants must be physically able to walk across the fields to check the crops, good observation skills, and have a willingness to learn. A farm background or agricultural schooling is very helpful. Applicants must be available to work Monday thru Friday 8am to 6pm, until mid august. Housing is provided with utilities included as long as employed.
Base salary of $3,000 per month.
In addition to the base salary there is a $2,000 bonus that vests August 16. You must work until August 16 or later to get your bonus unless arrangements are made before accepting the position.
