Position Overview
The Show Low Unified School District seeks a highly motivated and passionate Junior High School Instructional Academic Advisor to support the instructional process and drive student success. The ideal candidate will demonstrate integrity and expertise in curriculum implementation, data-driven instruction, teacher support, and student progress monitoring. This individual will play a critical role in fostering academic achievement by mentoring teachers, providing professional development, and collaborating with stakeholders to create a future-ready learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Support & Student Success
- Promote a growth mindset among staff and students.
- Maintain strong working relationships with teachers, staff, and administration.
- Adapt to the evolving needs of a diverse student population and implement best practices for 21st-century learning.
- Schedule all students and provide orientation for new students regarding school procedures.
- Assist teachers in diagnosing academic difficulties and planning effective interventions and accommodations.
- Mentor all new teachers at the school to support their transition and success.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including test results, observation reports, and student progress records.
Collaboration & Program Development
- Support the continued implementation of Beyond Textbooks and ensure adherence to district "Curriculum Commitments."
- Establish and maintain community partnerships to expand student opportunities.
- Use data sources (e.g., surveys, test scores) to evaluate and improve program effectiveness.
- Collaborate with teachers to analyze student data and drive highly effective instructional practices.
- Conduct focused classroom observations and provide professional coaching and instructional modeling for teachers.
Leadership & Professional Development
- Support the school’s vision for success and actively engage all stakeholders.
- Maintain open, positive communication with staff, students, and families to promote student success.
- Keep the Principal fully informed of all job-related activities.
- Serve as a member of the school’s administrative team, contributing to decision-making and school improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the development of the master schedule for each school year.
- Facilitate and participate in collaborative meetings to enhance student outcomes.
- Assist in planning and delivering professional development opportunities for staff.
- Oversee test administration and assessment data management to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Other Responsibilities
- Work independently using standardized best practices and established protocols.
- Provide guidance and direction to other staff members as needed.
- Be available for occasional after-hours work or travel for professional responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of three years of teaching experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Certification: Must hold a valid Arizona Standard Teaching Certificate.
- Fingerprint Clearance: Must possess a valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.
- Driver’s License: Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license.
