Health and Wellness Coordinator

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic Health and Wellness Coordinator who is also a certified Personal Trainer to oversee wellness initiatives and provide individualized fitness coaching. This role focuses on developing and implementing health programs, conducting fitness assessments, and leading exercise sessions to enhance overall employee or client well-being. This role also involves analyzing benefits data for a self-insured medical plan to identify trends, improve employee health outcomes and reduce cost. The Coordinator will collaborate with HR, Benefits Administrator and external vendors to create a culture of wellness in the workplace.  

Essential Functions:

Wellness Program Coordination:

• Develop, implement, and manage company wellness initiatives.
• Conduct health education sessions, workshops, and wellness challenges.
• Track participation and evaluate the effectiveness of wellness programs.
• Collaborate with HR and management to promote a culture of health and well-being.

Personal Training & Fitness Coaching:

• Perform individual fitness assessments to create tailored exercise plans.
• Lead group fitness classes, including strength training, flexibility, and cardiovascular exercises.
• Educate clients on proper exercise techniques and injury prevention.
• Provide motivation, goal setting, and progress tracking for individuals.

Health Promotion & Lifestyle Coaching:

• Offer guidance on nutrition, stress management, and overall wellness.
• Design and distribute health and wellness resources, such as newsletters or digital content.
• Encourage and support behavior change strategies for long-term health improvements.

Administrative & Compliance Duties:

• Maintain accurate records of fitness assessments, progress, and participation.
• Ensure all wellness programs comply with safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Manage wellness budgets, partnerships, and vendor relationships if applicable.
• Analyze claims data for self-insured medical plan to track health trends, utilization, and cost drivers.
• Identify opportunities for targeted wellness initiatives based on data insights.
• Provide regular reports and recommendations to leadership on program effectiveness.
• Conduct benefit meetings with newly eligible employees.

General Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Promotion, or a related field preferred.
• Certifications:
• • Certified Personal Trainer (NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, or equivalent).
  • CPR/AED Certification (required).
  • Wellness Coaching or Health Education certification (a plus).
• Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years in personal training, wellness coaching, or health program coordination.
• Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and motivational skills; ability to develop engaging wellness programs; proficiency in fitness assessment tools and health tracking software; ability to keep and maintain confidentiality
