Job Overview
This position functions to draft, assemble, sew and alter burn and vascular pressure garments for inpatient and outpatient populations. This position willwork closely with and receive directions from occupational and physical therapists to ensure proper fitting of garments.
This position is per diem and health benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $26.78/hour - $37.80/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.
Responsibilities
- Fabrication of pressure garments for inpatients and outpatients using a variety of techniques and equipment
- Utilize measurements to draft necessary patterns with a variety of tools and equipment.
- Accurately cut and organize material from pattern in preparation for assembly of garment.
- Safely operate industrial zig-zag, straight and serger stitch sewing machines in construction of pressure garment.
- Provide alterations to pressure garments to ensure proper fitting (as prescribed by therapists).
- Construct and maintain a supply of “ready-made” garments for interim use until custom made garments can becompleted.
- Check fit of garment with therapists to assure proper pressure distribution over grafts and healing scars.
- Assist with garment fitting of patients to assure proper fit, patient comfort and satisfactory function according to requestsby physicians and therapists.
- Accurately organize and track pressure garment orders for in-house fabrication.
- Closely communicate with burn therapists regarding the status, alteration or completion of garments in a timely fashion.
- Participate in ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the process and quality of pressure garment fabrication.
- Identifies areas needing improvement in ordering/measuring/design fitting of garments, develop and provide inservicesand develops/modifies teaching materials as necessary.

Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 1 year of advanced sewing techniques
Knowledge of:
- Industrial sewing machine, serger and hand tools.
- Pattern drafting.
- Assembling and sewing stretch fabrics.
Ability to:
- Operate designated machinery and tools skillfully and safely to produce quality pressure garments in a timely manner.
- Organize multiple projects and files in designated work area Accurately follow written and spoken directions.
- Interact sensitively with children with various diagnoses, age levels and cultural backgrounds and their families as required.
