Volunteer Coordinator
Organization Summary
Shy Wolf Sanctuary is a home to captive-bred wolves and other exotic animals. Animals come to us from shelters, private surrenders, and seizure by authorities due to negligence, abandonment, or abuse. Our mission is to heal hearts and minds through rescue, sanctuary, and education.
Position Purpose
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for daily volunteer supervision and progressing volunteers through the levels of training. The Volunteer Coordinator mentors the volunteers through the different training levels, encouraging them to progress to senior volunteer levels when appropriate and help run the sanctuary daily, while ensuring that all safety policies and procedures are being followed.
Reports to: Operations Director
Major Functions
- Ensure the safety of all animals, volunteers, and visitors daily
- Works cooperatively with the Operation Director and Animal Care staff to ensure operations run smoothly
- Conducts Volunteer Orientation as scheduled
- Recruits volunteer coverage for predicted shortages in scheduling
- Volunteer training: Ensures volunteer paperwork is in order as they progress through the levels & facilitates the scanning of records to the volunteer files - Submits recommendations to Operations Director for L4 and L5
- Provides photos and videos for social media content with information needed for posts
- Participates in volunteer evaluations and ensures BOD approved policies & procedures are followed
- In conjunction with the Operations Director, addresses all disciplinary issues and grievances involving volunteers
- Oversees leveling up of volunteers
- Responsible for planning and providing necessary training to encourage volunteers to "level up" beyond L1
- Plans and runs the monthly scenario training with input from the Operations Director and Animal Care Staff

Salary $18.00 per hour
