The Role: As the Assistant Corporate Controller, reporting to the VP of Corporate Accounting, you will be a key component of driving alignment and efficiency in the Controllership organization, including the monthly close cycle, financial reporting, internal controls and policy development as well as driving process improvements while leveraging SAP and other technologies. Consistency in service delivery will be achieved through ensuring all financial processes are compliant with policy and global standards, and that ongoing improvements, including standardizing and simplifying processes, are prioritized to meet corporate objectives. You will also has oversight responsibility for general ledger accounting in the Americas. This position can be based out of our Schenectady, NY or the Woodlands, TX office.

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Financial “ownership” of consolidated cash flow, P&L and balance sheet, including preparation of monthly MOR deliverables and required bank reporting.
  • Partner with global controllers to ensure proper and consistent use of automated tools
  • Preparation of quarterly and year-end financial statements, including related footnotes in conjunction with VP Corporate Accounting and regional controllers.
  • Support of annual year end audit and quarterly reviews, including interfacing directly with external auditors on technical topics.
  • Development of corporate policies for new accounting standards, as well as new policies to ensure global application of standards and corporate practice.
  • Lead efforts to engage new technology to support global consolidation and financial reporting and automation of month end reporting as much as possible.
  • Support work around using technology and/or support services to increase efficiency and lower cost of support function work (JE’s, AR, AP, etc).
  • Ownership and oversight responsibility for general ledger accounting in the Americas and related people leadership
  • Support the global regional controller’s with GAAP accounting guidance to ensure proper monthly consolidated group reporting (including M&A’s & divestitures)
  • Perform technical research and memos to support the conclusions of accounting decisions and management estimates
  • Driving adherence and understanding of the global consolidating cadence and reporting timeline to the business and controllers group
  • Supporting and overseeing the global consolidation
  • Ensure compliance with all company accounting policies and revise policies where needed to support changes in US GAAP accounting standards or changes in business structure.
  • Ensure compliance with external regulations for financial reporting.
  • Provide support to FP&A, Tax, treasury and other functions as needed

Creating Extraordinary Starts With:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or other financial discipline; CPA
  • Minimum eight years of professional and progressively larger responsibility in a multinational corporation and/or Big 4 accounting firm
  • Expert knowledge of US GAAP required
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Previous people leader experience

  • The salary range for this position is $100,000- $190,000 annually. The specific salary offered will be determined by a variety of factors including location, experience, and education.
