Skysong Innovations is ASU’s exclusive technology transfer and intellectual property management company responsible for the rapid and wide dissemination of ASU’s discoveries and inventions into the marketplace for the public good.

With the support of its entrepreneurial arm at Skysong Innovations, ASU has become one of the top-performing U.S. universities in terms of intellectual property inputs (inventions disclosed by ASU researchers) and outputs (licensing deals and start-ups). Skysong Innovations was established in 2003 as an Arizona Limited Liability company, formerly known as AzTE.

Job Summary

The Student Assistant – Licensing Assistant will perform various tasks to ensure the successful achievement of SI’s mission, specifically focused on coordinating licensing activities and assisting the Licensing and Business Development team.  This individual will need to be detail-orientated and deadline-driven.

What you'll do:

• Coordinate and manage licensing activities

• Communicate progress on activities as well as assist in managing deadlines

• Manage legal deadlines – including, but not limited to, tracking responsible party and handoffs among team members, time blocking, and milestones to get project/deal completed

• Perform market research and prepare related reports and deal term comparables

• Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment 

• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential prospect information

• Strong and collegial interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively

• Possess a willingness to learn

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexible 

• Ability to represent the institution well

• An advocate’s belief in the vision of ASU as the New American University

• Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties

• Excellent planning, highly organized and able to handle multiple projects

• Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft office products (Word, Excel and Outlook)

• Capable of managing several activities at the same time
