Job Overview:
United Airlines is seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst responsible for leveraging IT resources to address business needs and challenges. The role is crucial in developing high-performing, large-volume integration applications and requires an agile approach to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient systems and solutions supporting core organizational functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues effectively, ensuring maximum IT and business investment benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work on moderate to complex projects, providing technical solutions and guidance.
- Support and mentor junior team members, offering direction, tools, and processes.
- Coordinate testing activities across multiple end-user channels (dotcom, mobile, etc.) and the integration platform.
- Assist in solution planning and design by gathering and analyzing requirements.
- Develop simple workflow models and process maps using input from various sources.
- Apply software design principles, design patterns, and integration standards throughout coding and testing cycles.
- Lead meetings with Technology and Business Partners to gather requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Align business processes and procedures with best practice solutions.
- Analyze efficiencies and effectiveness of current IT solutions.
- Develop training programs and document knowledge articles for internal use.
- Ensure adherence to business principles and compliance guidelines.
- Identify and resolve problems/issues, proposing effective solutions.
- Track and resolve issues, providing activity updates and documenting changes to workflows and processes.
- Document and monitor service levels to ensure optimal performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business Administration.
- 2-5 years of IT and/or business experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication with employees and management at all levels; ability to convey technical concepts in an understandable manner.
- Integrity & Trust: Trusted to be honest and transparent, able to admit mistakes and handle confidential information appropriately.
- Teamwork: Collaborative mindset, actively contributing to team discussions, volunteering for assignments, and mentoring others.
- Technical Expertise: Commitment to continuous learning in the technical field, keeping up with industry practices, and applying relevant processes to business needs.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Successful completion of an interview process is required.
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in the airline industry.
- Experience with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, and MongoDB is beneficial.
- Familiarity with the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) is a plus.
